Exams in ballet, tap and modern allow students to work towards a performance before an external examiner, enabling them to become more confident and focussed. Exams may be taken in ballet, tap or modern by all pupils at the discretion of the principal.
Starlight Theatre School are proud to have a 100% pass rate!
Students can take ballet exams with the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and tap and modern exams with the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing).
For my students the exam is the carrot; the goal that encourages them to put in the extra practice and training for that particular day.
The examination provides purpose for the journey and the certificate provides a sense of achievement.
The high examination results reflect the standard of my school and pupils.
My top exam tip to pupils is to put in the training for the examination. Practice makes perfect - then you will feel really confident in your work and hopefully will be able to enjoy and convey enjoyment of the examination experience.
Exams are marked by external examiners. The following grades may be obtained:
A (Distinction): reflects a high to extremely high standard of achievement
B (Merit): reflects a good to very good standard of achievement
C (Pass): reflects a satisfactory to fairly good standard of achievement
N (Standard Not Yet Attained): indicates that there is insufficient level of achievement
